Welcome to the Hammond Area YMCA
The Hammond Area YMCA strengthens the foundations of our community through well-being and fitness, camps, family time, swim, sports and play, and other activities for people of all ages, incomes and abilities. We’re more than just a place to work out. Youth Sports
When kids play Y-Sports, they develop more than skills—they develop character. Instructors and coaches—often volunteers, including many parents—model fairness and hard work while emphasizing teamwork, cooperation, and developing good values in our non-competitive programs. Our volunteer coaches recognize achievements large and small and understand that winning is not just about the score. By playing sports, kids and their families feel a sense of belonging that comes from a community gathering together to cheer on their team. Everyone plays, everyone wins!
Free Throw Contest!
- When: Sunday February 26, 1 pm
- Registration: going on now until an hour before competition.
- Divisions: Separate Boys & Girls - 9 and under, 11 and under, 13 and under
- Cost: FREE for members & non-members
Winner of each division at the Hammond Y contest will move on to the Northwest Indiana YMCA Free Throw Championship on March 11th at Purdue University Calumet (12:30pm). There our winners will face up against the winners of each division from the nine YMCA's in the Northwest Indiana Region. Stop by the front desk or contact Dave Mays for more info.

- Indoor Volleyball: Fun-filled pick-up games – free for members, $10 for guests of members. Wednesday nights from 7:00pm-8:30pm.
- Noon-Time Men’s Basketball: Monday – Friday, must not be in high school. A great way to exercise during your lunch hour!
