Welcome to the Hammond Area YMCA
The Hammond Area YMCA strengthens the foundations of our community through well-being and fitness, camps, family time, swim, sports and play, and other activities for people of all ages, incomes and abilities. Ready to join?
Visit the Hammond YMCA and fill out the application form and bank draft information. Bring a voided check and driver's license with you when you sign up. The joiner's fee and first month must be paid when joining by either check or cash. Credit cards may only be used if joining as a family.

Membership rates and class fees are subject to change.
*The joiner's fee is a one-time fee as long as you stay a member. If you cancel and rejoin must repay this fee.

College Student Membership
$20 per month (via bank draft) plus a joiner's fee of $10. (includes a $10 flex pass)
To be eligible for this membership students must attend a minimum of 9 credit hours per semester. Must provide a photo I.D. and official school transcript. $10 joiners fee waived with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
YMCA Scholarship Program
It is our intent that no one be denied membership or participation in programs because of an inability to pay, we offer financial assistance to those who qualify. Please complete a financial assistance form, attach proof of financial situation and a letter of request. Applications may be picked up at the Welcome Center. All requests are kept confidential. Contact the Welcome Center for more information.
Membership Guidelines
- All memberships are non-refundable and nontransferable to other individuals.
- Monthly payments are by bank draft withdrawal only on the 15th of each month.
- If you wish to cancel your membership, a stop bank draft form must be filled out and submitted before the 25th of the month in order to stop the next month’s payment. (example: August 25th for September 15)
- Membership cards are issued to all members eight years of age or older upon completion of application and full payment of dues. All members eight and up must present their membership card when using the facilities or registering for a program or class.
- All individuals using the YMCA facilities are expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the character, welfare, best interests and policies of the YMCA. Failure to do so will result in the immediate dismissal from the premises and may result in revocation of membership and/or usage privileges.
