Childcare The Hammond Area YMCA offers convenient, affordable, and high quality childcare for working parents. Our Preschool and Before & After School programs combine learning with laughter. Parents can complete their workday with peace of mind, knowing their children are being cared for in a safe environment. These are some of the activities your child will enjoy:
Come Take a Tour and Meet the Staff! Discover all the fantastic features the Hammond Area YMCA has to offer you and your child. Discovery Preschool The Hammond Area YMCA offers a preschool program that will help your child develop socially and mentally. We limit our class size to sixteen children per class so your child will receive the individual attention they need. The Discovery Preschool offers classes in the morning and afternoon at the YMCA and also at the Lincoln Center in Hammond (contact the YMCA for a class and fee schedule for the Lincoln Center). Five year old children attend class on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Classes for Three and Four year old children are held on Tuesday and Thursday. Kid Zone Ages 6 months - 7 years Babysitting service is offered to our members while using the facility or watching a family member participate in a YMCA activity. The Kid Zone is a special place designed for our youngest members. Parents must sign their children in and out of babysitting and must be in the facility at all times. Member Fee $0 Guest of Member Fee $5 per day Three hour maximum. Before & After School Care YMCA Child Care is a before and after school program for grade school age children, provided in a positive environment of safety and support. This quality program includes activities such as games, arts and crafts, alcohol/drug prevention education, National YMCA physical fitness programs and homework assistance. An after school snack is provided each day. Copy of child's shot records required. The YMCA provides child care services at the following schools: Hammond: Edison, Harding, Hess, Jefferson, Kenwood, Morton, and O'Bannon. Whiting: Nathan Hale (pm only) For more information regarding our child care services please contact the Childcare Office office at 219-845-1507 x 248. Please Note: Child care fees are due on Saturdays by 3:00 pm for the following week. School Vacation / Off Days The Hammond Area YMCA provides childcare on school vacation days. Daily events include games and special enrichment activities. Care is provided from 6:30 am to 6:15 pm. Members pay a daily rate of $25.00. Non-Members pay $45.00 per day. Y - Pals - YMCA Kindergarten Program We provide care for kindergarten students before and after their half-day at school. Y-Pals provides an environment specially tailored to the safety, happiness, and well-being of your child. Supervised playtime activities, crafts, and swimming are included. Children should bring a sack lunch with them each day. Y-Pals care is available to Hammond Schools only. The fee for this program is $90.00 per week. |
